Red Roses, Blue Violets, And A Bag of Rocks

Lately the weather in PA has been anything but predictable. Once Spring officially arrives, my internal clock begins to count down the days to summer. I have been stuck in the house way too long by March and I'm ready to get to all those Projects.

By Spring the list of "things to be accomplished" has surpassed the size of the weekly grocery needs. Flowers need to be planted, weeds pulled, beds mulched, porches sanded and repainted, and screen doors replaced (just to name a few things).

My husband and I did our annual walk through the yard today. As usual, we each have our own vision of what we would like our property to look like in a few weeks.

I was hoping we would open the pool Mid March. Hubby thinks that after Memorial Day will be just fine.

My plans to replace our gazebo were scrapped by Hubby today. He says our current Gazebo should last another 5 years. I'll have to remind him later that it's not made out of men's underwear (which is another thing he also likes to hold on to despite shape or appearances).

We discussed adding another bed on the side of the house to accommodate a pom pom tree. After fifteen minutes going back and forth with ideas, we collectively decided that there will be no new beds or pom pom trees....just rocks. Yes, when in doubt, add rocks. If it was up to Hubby, I suppose our property would eventually resemble something from the Flintstones. There is nothing wrong with that, everyone needs a dream.

While at Lowes today I picked up yet another Rhododendron. This will be number four (I think). There are a total of five hanging around the property, yet despite our best efforts one relieves itself from duty every season and steps into the light (apparently a much happier place than our little abode). Say a little prayer friends for our newest addition.

We are expecting sunny skies the next three days, so it's time to get busy. Thanks to all who left comments about our new mini-van shopping adventures. We are closing in on a decision. Hopefully by Monday we will have a new landscape, new wheels, and of course...new rocks!

Rocks aren't my first choice, but they are definitely maintenance free!!

Oh my gosh, YES with the mens underwear!!! Whenever I tell my husband we have to throw a pair out, he always, always says "but they're still good!". I have to physically hold the boxers in his face and stick my finger in the hole(s) to prove that they are NOT still good! LOL!

LOL, Hubby and I always have different ideas too! I've tagged you for a get-to-know-you game. You don't have to play if you don't want to though. I posted it on my mama blog but the link is for the orignal post on my food and allergy blog :)

Our entire yard, front and back, is rocks and cacti. It's easy maintenance. Happy VGNO.

Beautiful weather here in GA! Had a bad storm weekend before last and got some major hail damage to my car. Have to take it in Monday for estimate! This is beach weather with a good book and a cold Dr. Pepper! Happy VGNO! This is so much fun. Love the music from the disco era!

Yeah my husband keeps buying underwear because his old ones are uncomfortable (what bare elastic and hair don't go together?) but he won't throw the old ones away. This means some days it takes 10 minutes for him to choose underwear.
Happy VGNO!

Too funny about the gazebo and rocks...men are too funny!

And regarding the car...we have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and I love it. (Don't tell my friends that I said I love my minivan though, okay? Let's just keep that between us.)

I have two boys too (one is almost 3 and the other just turned 4) and the Odyssey has been great. There is so much room...we've been known to have picnics in the back.

Good luck deciding and purchasing...and good luck to the new Rhododendron.

My hubby is in charge of the grass. He stays away from my flower beds which rocks!!!

He will mulch with me in spring if I arrange for the mulch delivery.

Just toss your hubby's underwear!! They will never concede that it time for something new.

I love that you let him have some say in the flower beds. I don't even ask my hubby's thoughts. Just do it. What is he going to do??? NOT HAVE SEX WITH YOU??? LMAO!!!

Happy VGNO!!

The weather sure has been wacky here in PA, hasn't it? I have some stuff started in the house that I've been wanting to plant outside, but since we've had some frost advisories this past week, they're still waiting... :) But it's going to be summertime hot this weekend, so I might get some of it done and planted! :) Hubby wants a 'rock garden', too...still working on that one! ;)

I had a FIL crisis last night so it cut my partying short...so I'm making up for it stopping by this morning with some breakfast! ;)

Hope you had a fun VGNO night! :)
